How to Get Your Point Across to Any Personality Type by Answering 4 Simple Questions
Free Video Guide Add commentsHow to earn your prospects’ trust, build rapport & convince them to take action.
Based on the work of educational theorist, David Kolb, in the area of experiential learning, the universe of audiences (or prospects) can be segmented into four categories–each of which has its own perspective or question it asks when processing messages. If you answer each of those four questions in your video messages, you’ll reach 99% of all audiences successfully.

Do you recommend trying to sell to the four different personality types in one video or actually creating four different videos that each focus on a different personality type?
November 12th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Hi great advice, I really enjoy these insights into the kind of NLP side of things.
Videos make it easier and quicker to cover all the bases and attract the 99% .

I’m a DiSC Behavioral System Trainer – or some call me a “behavioral consultant”… and I base most of my seminars on these concepts… Also, when I present a telclass or a live event, I always make sure to “feed” each personality style: let the “creatives” have fun, while I also provide plenty of statistics, research data, etc. for the “analyticals”… at times I speak faster and give the bottom line to satisfy those fast-paced “sales” types, and then I varry my pace to connect and relate to the slower paced analyticals/scolastic types, who tend to process things (ussually) at a slower pace.
Great succint description of the styles and how to relate to them (in the DiSC system we call them different names, but the concept is very similar)
Great stuff!

Good stuff enjoyed
November 12th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
That was good stuff. Now how do identify each type? what questions do you ask to identify each type?
November 12th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Great insights Mike. As always, you give great info. Thank you.
In a personality system I use in my consulting/marketing, your presented concept basically breaks down One Personality Type, into 4 sub-categories. (In the system I use, there are actually 3 entirely different remaining personality types. And they don’t ask the questions. However in a buying decision, they also have to be satisfied in different ways.)
Yet the 4 types you presented (which is actually 4 facets of 1 type in my system) comprise the way 70% of the population either thinks or feels. So for marketing purposes, one definitely has their bases covered.
Love the technical aspects of your vid production. Absolutely clean, polished and beautiful! Ever considered offering a course on how to do that?

Probably one of the best explanations and summaries I have seen on how to deal with personality types.
I have over 15 years of hitech BtoB sales. Now you would expect hitech would be techninal right? What I have learned is that most individuals are a combintiation of the personality types. Generally one type being most dominant. What that means is that it is important to cover all of the questions. Some types are not dominant but still impact the decision process. This is especially true when there are multiple decision makers/influencers involve. For consummer purchases husbands and wifes will often play different roles, so all questions need to be answered.

Mike – BRILLIANT.
For the last 2 yrs I have worked (as a project manager/copywriter) for a client who is a Personality Profiling specialist. I have studied Psycholgy at Uni, and loved it… but this whole personality thing made for challenges in “getting” what my client wanted. You have just switched a huge spotlight onto the stage, so to speak!!! This 4 question/answer approach is uncanny as it is exactly what I was looking for – a systematic way of delivering information that addresses the four personality types (which are defined a little differently for the model that my client uses – Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Compliance).
Excellent – I have learned much and now have some concrete information to work with.
Cheers,
Terri.

Wow! This video has come into my life at the perfect timing as I am about to send out a video/email campaign for selling my book “Brighton, One Star’s Journey to Shine” to individuals, corporations and retail stores. And more importantly, how each book sold saves the lives of 2 children under the age of 5 in Africa because we have partnered with UNICEF and Save the Children to provide life saving medicine for these children. And we are working with the Make a Wish Foundation too in providing books and our new star plush to kids who are ill. So this is truly a law of attraction/universe responding/Godsend gift and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I’m getting mixed up with the “Mike’s”. I’m pretty sure I got this from Mike Stewart. I’m glad he sent it out. And now you’ve got my email, too.
Great video – fast and full of info (and, yes, excellent quality). Short and sweet, then we can pause it at our own rate to take notes, or play it over and over like people said.

Great stuff. I took a PE and leadership class here in las Vegas Nevada at a place (plug)
call Choice Center. It taught Experental training as well. we went over all 4 personality types (The Promotor, The Supporter, The Analyzer and The Controller). when you did you example, I was able to relate it to what I learned at C.C. Good stuff my friend. Keep it coming. I heard and read this stuff so many times already, but you put in an awesome way. Thank you.
November 13th, 2008 at 7:02 am
Mike,
What can I say
!
Succinct, to the point, and extremely valuable.
John Deck really hit the nail on the head. Most people are a combination of personality types.
When you consider ALL of the time (and money) that goes into prospecting and creating the opportunity to persuade a prospective client — NOT spending the time (just a few extra minutes really) to cover ALL the bases is a HUGE MISSED BET!
And when there are multiple decision makers/influencers you need to immunize the process to make sure that you have covered everyone’s bases (nothing worse than getting blind sided — especially when it didn’t have to happen).
Looking forward to more content.

It’s sites like this that are to blame! =D I’ve been so inspired that I made the decision to create my own blog.
